Perspectives on the Habitation<\/a>\u00a0is an educational resource about the French settlement at Qu\u00e9bec in 1608. It is designed to help students learn about the place of Samuel de Champlain’s settlement of Qu\u00e9bec in the early modern world through the perspectives of textual and visual primary sources; a variety of secondary sources; and additional research on what Champlain learned from Indigenous peoples and his earlier travels, on what happened to the Habitation, and on how the history has been commemorated in public memorials from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. This resource is designed for Grades 11-12 and can be adapted for undergraduate level instruction.<\/p>\n

Remembering Africville: Source Guide<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>is an online inventory of documents that tells the story of the troubled relationship between the City of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and the Africville community. Documents include official city records, minutes, and reports as well as citizens’ personal letters, petitions, surveys, and committee records.
