{"id":2368,"date":"2024-03-25T13:42:33","date_gmt":"2024-03-25T17:42:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.historians.org\/news-publications\/american-historical-review\/ahr-history-lab\/"},"modified":"2025-12-29T10:32:52","modified_gmt":"2025-12-29T15:32:52","slug":"ahr-history-lab","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.historians.org\/news-publications\/american-historical-review\/ahr-history-lab\/","title":{"rendered":"AHR History Lab"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4>\n\t\t\tAbout the <em>AHR<\/em> History Lab\t<\/h4>\n\t<p>The History Lab launched in March 2022 as an experimental space driven by a single question: how can the AHR help reimagine the practice of history in the 21<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0century?\u00a0\u00a0The kinds of field-shaping interventions our authors make in the Lab involve collaborative projects designed to showcase transformative approaches to new methods and fields in history, to reinvigorate more familiar realms of historical study and to expand the public facing reach of our historical practices.\u00a0\u00a0The forms that Lab projects take reflect the AHA&#8217;s recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.historians.org\/resource\/guidelines-for-broadening-the-definition-of-historical-scholarship\/#:~:text=As%20the%20AHA%20declared%20in,enhanced%20by%20the%20inclusion%20of\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.historians.org\/resource\/guidelines-for-broadening-the-definition-of-historical-scholarship\/%23:~:text%3DAs%2520the%2520AHA%2520declared%2520in,enhanced%2520by%2520the%2520inclusion%2520of&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1742991682081000&amp;usg=AOvVaw26byHwFSeD1TTUQWh8TUZe\">Guidelines for Broadening the Definition of Historical Scholarship<\/a>\u00a0and its concerns with demonstrating &#8220;a wide range of scholarly historical work can be undertaken in ways consistent with our disciplinary standards and values.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>All History Lab pieces undergo peer review and contributions to the Lab each receive a DOI to enhance searchability. History Lab projects involve practitioners of history from across the discipline, including academics, teachers, digital humanists, archivists, community activists, museum curators, documentarians and filmmakers, writers, poets, musicians, composers, and visual artists.
