We developed two surveys, one for non-tenure-track faculty (NTT) and one for department chairs. The AHA&#8217;s Surveys: Historians Teaching Off the Tenure Track are now closed to responses. It is by no means limited to the examples it invokes, or to academia and its standard professional ladders.
